Which Gothenburg Pass variant suits you?
Go City sells two variants of the same pass. One counts days, the other counts visits, and that difference shapes the price more than the attractions themselves.

Counting days or counting visits
The All-Inclusive Pass sells you time. Choose 1, 2, 3 or 5 days, and within that window each of the 22 included attractions is open to you once. The days run as consecutive calendar days from your first scan, including any day you don't use it at all.
The Essentials Pass sells you visits: three of them, and you have 30 days from your first scan to use them. No day block, no time pressure, but a hard cap on how many you get.
The Essentials Pass selection rule
This is where the catch sits, one that Go City's own marketing only mentions in passing. "Three attractions" sounds like free choice, but it isn't:
- Exactly one of your three picks comes from the premium list. It has three entries: Universeum, the Paddan City Canal Tour and Prison Island.
- Exactly two come from the standard list of seven museums: Laserdome Kållered, the Museum of World Culture, Aeroseum, Gothenburg Museum of Art, Maritime Museum & Aquarium, the Museum of Gothenburg and Maritiman.
So you can't pick three museums, and you can't pick twice from the premium list either. Anything that is on neither list is not available with the Essentials Pass at all: the guided archipelago tour, the trip to Vinga Island, the tour around Hisingen and the hop-on hop-off bus are exclusive to the All-Inclusive Pass.
Which variant fits which trip
If you have two to five consecutive days in Gothenburg and want to get out on the water, take the All-Inclusive Pass. The boat tours are the most expensive tickets in the city, and the smaller variant leaves them out completely.
If you're around for longer but only doing the odd activity (working in the city, staying with family, spread across several weekends), the Essentials Pass works better. Three visits spread over 30 days make for a different kind of trip from three visits on three consecutive days.
If you only have a single destination in mind, you don't need either pass. A single ticket bought on the spot will always be cheaper, whichever attraction it is.

Questions about the variants
Can I switch from the Essentials Pass to the All-Inclusive Pass? +
Not as an upgrade, no. As long as the Essentials Pass has not been activated, you can return it within 90 days and buy the other one instead. After the first scan, the decision is locked in.
Is the Essentials Pass actually worth it? +
It pays off over time, not over quantity. Its real advantage is the 30-day window: if you're in Gothenburg for a while and only do the odd activity, you come out ahead compared with a single-day pass. If you have three full days ahead of you, look at the extra cost of the All-Inclusive Pass before you decide.
Do both variants include the same attractions? +
No, and that's the key difference. The All-Inclusive Pass unlocks all 22. The Essentials Pass covers only ten of them, split across two lists, and leaves out the big boat tours entirely.
